Dear Paul,
As someone who plays harp professionally, I need a sturdy instrument and I need to be able to rely on it at all times and under many various conditions. I need an instrument with a secure pedestal base so if I have to play on a concrete patio, rocky mountainside, the beach or on a thick carpet I know it's not going to be easily knocked over like so many harps on their spindly legs.
Also, since I am called upon to play many special request selections and because I write my own music, I need reliable accurate sharpening levers that won't buzz, fall out or disengage from the strings on which they are set.
Too, I must have levers that I can change fast enough to play many accidentals since so much of the music I play or compose requires the most rapid changes possible. If my Woldsong harp didn't give me every bit of the reliability I need , then I wouldn't play it. I'd find something better.
I've looked for something better, just on general principles, for my students and what not, but these are, hands down, the most beautiful, wonderful and reliable instruments and I couldn't recommend them more highly.
First and formost their sound is extraordinary. They make your heart melt. They are unparalled. Truly fine harps are easier to play and these are just a pleasure. The beauty and sound of these instruments bring wonderful comments where ever I go.
Sincerely,
Shawna Selline
